                CHAPTER 1

                  The letter

One dark stormy night at 12:00 am there was a knock on the door and Jenna woke up, got out of bed and stammered around to find the door handle.  A few minutes later Jenna found the door handle and opened the door to find nothing but a little letter at the front of the door step.  Jenna picked up the little letter and read the letter it said.

                             Dear Inspector Jenna

The Red Ruby’s .  It was taken yesterday at 3:46am and the person who stole the red ruby’s is very rich and selfish.  Jenna can you please come meet me at my office at 4:35PM sharp and breakfast will be served.

                                             From Ben

                            (your old friend from school)

          

                CHAPTER 2

               Getting ready

The next afternoon Jenna woke up and got ready to meet Ben at the bank.  By the time she got to the bank it was 3:30PM so Jenna asked all the bank employees if they knew anyone who has the code to the “red ruby’s safe. All  of the bank employees said “Only Ben and his helper Janet have the code.”.

            CHAPTER 3

             Ben’s office                        Just then , Janet told Jenna that Ben was ready to see her so Janet lead Jenna through a long narrow hall full of photos of people that worked at the bank before Ben.  Finally Jenna and Janet reached the door to Ben's office.  The door was a dark brown colour with a golden star in the middle that read BEN’S OFFICE in blue.  After Jenna had a long look at the door , Janet opened the door and Jenna saw Ben sitting at a large glass triangle table with 10 gold trophies on two sides of the table and at the front of the table there was a tiny statue.  Janet walked over to Ben and said quietly into his ear “The inspector is here to see you Ben.”

            CHAPTER 4

 The inspector is here to see you

Finally Ben turned around and the conversation started or did it...?  Ben was not in his chair.  1 second later Ben quietly emerged from under the table and quietly crawled behind Jenna and gave Jenna a spine shot.  [If you don’t know what a spine shot is I will tell you , it is when someone gets a fright but your upper spine gets a fright and sends nerves to your legs, arms and lower spine.]

      

              CHAPTER 5

Waiting For The Conservation To     

                      Start

        

A few seconds later Ben was back at his desk waiting for the conversation to start.  Ben told Jenna to sit on the sofa at the edge of the table.  Then he told Janet to put his trophies in the safe in his office.  Finally, what felt a million years later ,the conversation begun.

              CHAPTER 6

             Finally begun

“Finally we can start our conversation.” said Jenna hopefully.  Ben thought for a few seconds and then he nodded his head slowly.  

“Okay now you said that the person that stole the ruby was rich and selfish right?”  said Jenna.  

“Correct and they were very young and flexible.” ‘said Ben

“How do you know?” ‘asked’ Jenna surprised.  

“Because they had to bend through a little hole in the wall.” ‘said’ Ben.

              CHAPTER 7

        What’s that sound?

“Finally I have some cl…” Jenna stopped mid sentence because she heard a sound.  

“What’s that sound?” asked Janet.  

“It sounded like laughter to me.”  said Ben nervously.  

“It’s coming from the closet in the far corner of the room.” said Jenna bravely.  

“I’ll go have a look.”  said Jenna.  

As Jenna tip toed  closer to the closet the laughter got louder and louder every step.  Every step Jenna took the more afraid she got.

CHAPTER 8

The Trade

Finally Jenna opened the closet to find Ben’s cheeky child, Jimmy, with stuffed pockets.  

“Hey little guy”.  said Jenna nicely, “What’s that in your pocket?”.

Jimmy just giggled.

“Would you trade this chocolate bar for whatever is in your pocket?” said Jenna, slyly.  

Jimmy thought for a second.  He looked at the big chocolate bar Jenna was holding then looked in his pockets and took out something big and red and put it in Jenna’s hand. It was the red ruby’s! Jenna had finally solved the  mystery.  Then Jimmy snatched the chocolate out of Jenna’s hand and gobbled it all up.  

“Well”said Jenna with a BIG smile on her face.  You were right about the thief being greedy Ben.”

     THE END
